Today’s excursion train takes passengers on an hour-long trip through the forested countryside near Birmingham before returning to Calera. Leaving from Calera, Alabama, the Heart of Dixie Railroad runs on the historic tracks of the Louisville & Nashville Alabama Mineral Railroad, which was established in 1891. The Mercury & Chase Railroad operates from April through December.
